What you need to know about the Institute for Advanced Study?
Application deadline: October 15, 2024
The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) Fellowship 2025 is now accepting applications. About twenty scholars are invited to the Institute for residential fellowships each year. Half of those invited work on different projects, and the other half are involved in the year’s assigned theme. Junior and senior scholars in a variety of social science topics and associated fields are encouraged to apply to the school. The theme for 2025–2026 is “Digital (In)Equality.”
In 1930, the Institute for Advanced Study was established, it had 23 initial members in the School of Mathematics, and one of its first professors was the renowned Albert Einstein. In proceeding years, the number of researchers affiliated with the Institute has increased to over 8,000, comprising mathematicians, natural scientists, historians, and social scientists. About 200 members a year, of whom 60% are from outside the United States and usually come from more than thirty different countries, are chosen and guided by a staff of about thirty regular professors.
